Progamme week commencing 16th August by Dave and Debbie

Middle of August and all is quiet on the projects front; but behind the scenes we are still making progress on a number of our goals. Unfortunately the recent update meeting was cancelled due to ill health but it won’t take long to reorganise and get up to date.
One of our main projects is to assist Uplands School with the opening of a shop and cafe that will both raise funds and give the youngsters a chance to relate to people and the work situation. The premises are currently in the final stages of finalising the lease so that come the new school term in September a start can be made on conversion. The premises are almost new and adjacent to the school in North Swindon; they were to have been a chemist but this business fell through when the proposed health centre was cancelled. It will make an excellent centre. A number of other organisations are involved but we have yet to get together to detail what is required. Whatever happens this will be a project which has tremendous rewards, will create great opportunities, to meet and work together and have just a little bit of fun along the way.
I have been very lucky that as part of my work I have access to redundant furniture and fittings, and thanks to the generosity of Catalent Pharma Solutions in Swindon the school have taken delivery of tables, chairs, kitchen and serving equipment to help fill the cafe. What we will need now are plumbers, electricians, painters and decorators to start the fitting out.
To be continued as my computer is fading and the charger is at work…….
