Before the Rotaract Europe Meeting (REM) in Bratislava the group Rotaract&Wine organised a special event for charity to support the Roll out the Barrel Trust. ROTB distributes rolling water barrels in Africa. Rotaract&Wine is an unofficial fellowship which organises wine events for charity. The motto is Service above Wine. Three members of Rotary eClub of West England were involved in the organisation of this event. A special feature was the usage of an agile management software tool for organisation.
During 2 days 11 wine lovers from Rotaract and Rotary from all over Europe visited the wine region around Neusiedlersee in Austria and Hungary to discover local wine culture.
The event started in Sopron, the most western city of Hungary, where members of Rotaract Sopron welcomed the guests at the railway station. A Rotarian from Sopron, owner of Vinceller winery, offered a welcoming wine tasting. After the tour through the old town with the local Rotaractors, the group went to another Austrian Rotarian winemaker Weninger. In Balf a group from Rotary Niederpullendorf joined the tasting and the evening dinner.

The next day the group went to the Esterhazy castle in Eisenstadt and the modern Esterhazy winery. The event ended at the winery Leo Hillinger in Jois before joining the Rotaract conference in Bratislava.
It was a fun event where wine-pros and amateurs, learned about the Blaufränkisch area, experienced different attitudes towards wine making, enjoyed excellent food with according wines, experienced fellowship with Rotarians and Rotaractors from Hungary and Austria, while supporting a good cause.

All winemakers offered wine bottles for the raffle at the REM in Bratislava. With their support and the sponsoring and the efficient usage of the agile software tool Favro, we were able to sell so many raffle tickets, we could earn 2000 € for the Roll out the Barrel Trust.
